Mafinga Town Council, located in Muchinga Province, is among the 116 Local Authorities in Zambia established under the Local Government Act No. 2 of 2019. Established in 1997, the Council strives to prove its relevance and remains dedicated to serving the community of Mafinga Constituency, working tirelessly to improve the lives of its residents. As a local authority, our core business is to provide effective governance, support local businesses, and deliver essential services in a timely manner that meet the needs of our community.

The mandate of the Mafinga Town Council, enshrined in the Local Government Act, is to administer public and municipal services fairly and transparently, through a participatory and democratic approach close to the people. This legal mandate is outlined in the Local Government Act No. 2 of 2019, with specific functions being outlined in the First Schedule of the aforementioned Act.
